The Capitol, UT Austin, and Lunching (Again) at Torchy's Tacos (Fork it over, Austin! - Part 5)

After spending the morning walking along SoCo and eating lunch #1 at Chi'Lantro, we decided to set out in another direction to see the capitol building and, beyond that, the UT Austin campus.

That challah sign had absolutely no relevant-seeming context. It was not a bakery or anything remotely Jewish-themed. I think it was actually on the side of a music venue or something.

We went out as far as a fun little shop called Toy Joy, and then we turned around and visited one location of the much-recommended Torchy's Tacos for lunch #2.

The second photo is my dish, the tasty Brushfire Taco, complete with juicy mango, jerk chicken, and fiery diablo sauce. Yes, I bought a bottle of the sauce to bring home, although I just realized that that probably means I'll have to check my bag on the way back. Worth it.

Then, we headed back towards our hotel, crossing through the UT campus this time. It was gorgeous and full of light-colored bricks and a ridiculously epic fountain statue (shown below). My favorite part of the day was when a man biked by us wearing a bright pink helmet and singing opera (quite well)...except that every word he sung was "meow."

The last two photos in this next set are back at the capitol building.

Stay tuned for the next installment of Fork it over, Austin!, in which we see a man hammer nails into his nostril.
